Breakthru — Roger Taylor’s Gift to Derek & Grace (1989)

Derek and Grace were the housekeepers at Roger Taylor’s cottage in Surrey for many years. In 1989 they received this 12″ acetate of “Breakthru,” from The Miracle sessions, as a gift — Roger’s own personal copy.

The sleeve is signed by Brian May and Freddie Mercury — a lovely example of Freddie’s late-1980s signature — with the title “Breakthru” written across the top in Roger’s own hand.

Years later, the piece was auctioned by the daughter of the faithful couple, together with a postcard Derek and Grace received from Roger and his then-wife Debbie, sent during a holiday in Egypt.
